James Victor Lubwama 1 Samuel 17:40 (NIV) “ Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his Shepherd's bag and with his sling in his hand, he approached the Philistine” The stones that David picked refer to the word of God that we receive and keep in our heart. Psalm 119:11(ESV) says: ” I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. ” The stream where David picked the stones represents the Holy Spirit. Psalms 46:4 (NIV) says; “ There is a river whose streams make the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells”. 1 Samuel 17:49 (ESV) "And David put his hand into his bag and took from it a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead.
