EFFECTIVE AND FERVENT PRAYER

James 5:16 (NKJV)
''Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."
We have prayed alot but our prayers have yielded nothing. This is because when we talk to the Father, we present ourselves in a carnal state. So, how do you pray effectively?
1. Purify your heart and mind
Close off yourself from worrisome and stressing issues such as lack, disappointment or any other kind of diversion that is causing a frantic mood, and primarily focus on the most High God. You can’t pray effectively when your mind is in riot. Psalms 46:10 (AMP) says;
“Be still, and know (recognize, understand) that I am God”
2. Repent and forgive
God will forgive your sins, inequities and transgressions if you repent. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT) says; 
''If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Forgive and reconcile with the people that have wronged you and also repent for your sins before you give a sacrifice of prayer because, sins separates us from God and prevents him from hearing us. Isaiah 59:2 (NLT) warns; 
“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”
3. Focus on God
Envision yourself before the throne of God, like a child petitioning his father, touching the hem of his garment and know that he hears and listens to your prayers. Isaiah 66:1 (NLT) says; 
“Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool…….....''
4. Pray in line with God's word
An effective breakthrough prayer is when you refer to the word of God in your prayer. Pray in line with the scripture; any prayer without the word of God is considered empty. Return to God with His word because He honours it. Psalm 138:2 (NKJV) says; 
“For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.” 
5. Pray according to the will of God
The will of God towards your life is what the scriptures say about you - the Rhema word or prophesy spoken about your life. Pray in reference to that because it’s God's will towards your life. 1 John 5:14 (NKJV) says;
''This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us''  
6. Pray in tongues 
When you pray normally, you are limited but when you pray in tongues, you allow the Holy Spirit to touch the secret areas of your life. 1 Corinthians 14:2-4 (NLT) 
“For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious. 3 But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. 4 A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally”
When you pray in tongues, you pray in the spirit and the Holy Spirit intercedes for you with groaning because at times we don't even know what to pray for. Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV) says; 
''Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.''
7. Go deeper
Go an extra mile, go in-depth while praying. Don’t just utter lightly but pray yourself out of the situation. Psalm 42:7 (NIV) says; ''Deep calls unto deep''
An effective and fervent prayer has the power to breakthrough and propel you into the purposed destination.

THE ANOINTING  (I) Pr. James Victor Lubwama Luke 4:18 (AMP) “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me (the Messiah),  Because He has anointed Me to preach  the good news to the poor.  He has sent Me to announce release  (pardon, forgiveness) to the c aptives,  And recovery of sight to the blind,  To set free those who are oppressed  (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy)." The Holy Spirit is the one who anoints men for His work ; and when the Holy Spirit anoints you, it's for a specific purpose and for a designated  time frame . THE FOUR  (4)  WEAPONS FOR A CHRISTIAN Pr. James Victor Lubwama Ordinarily, when we speak about waging war, there are certain things the world would expect to see; for instance if Uganda is to go to war, the commander in chief will open up the armory and get the most suitable weapons to use like; tanks, choppers, guns, bullet proof vests, etc. Just like earthly governments, heaven also has its own armory. Jeremiah 50:25 (NKJV) says; " The Lord has opened His armory, and has brought out the weapons of His indignation;  for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts  in the land of the Chaldeans." As Christians, we do not fight against flesh and blood ( Ephesians 6:12 ) and thus our weapons are not physical (carnal) but spiritual. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV) says: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds" The 4 weapons of our warfare are; 1.The Word of God. ACCORDING TO THE POWER WITHIN US Pr. James Victor Lubwama Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” God will be able to work for you according to the word (scriptures) stored in your heart and the revelation you have. The spiritual power you have as a Christian is directly proportional to the word of God stored in your heart. There is a difference between information, memorizing and revelation. Most scholars are informed but they lack the revelation. Revelation is from the Holy Spirit and comes with a deeper understanding of scriptures - one can apply the Word of God to situations depending on what one has stored in his or her heart overtime. HAVE FAITH LIKE A CHILD Pr. James Victor Lubwama  Matthew 18:3 (AMP)  “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Children by nature never question authority - they are receptive, teachable, trusting and obedient; they possess qualities and values that are vital to life in Christ and thus the need to learn from them. PRAY IN THE SPIRIT Pr. James Victor Lubwama Prayer is an appeal of the things you need from the Lord; its dialogue between man and God; it's a way to realise the will of God ( Psalm 25:4 ), and learning how to pray ( Mathew 6:9-15 ) strengthens your relationship with God. Authentic prayer is communication between your heart and God Praying in the spirit and not in one's understanding (carnal state) does not mean that you will not understand what you are saying, but implies that you will pray in unity with the Holy spirit - for your mind and heart will completely be focused on God. Be aware that  God is a  S pirit. John 4:24 (AMP) says;  "God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality)" Human beings are both flesh and spirit.
