DAY 3 - PLAY YOUR PART BY BELIEVING GOD’S
WORD
Luke
1:38 (AMP)
“……Behold, I am the servant of the Lord;
may it be done to me according to your word.”
Mary
was told that she would give birth to Jesus the Saviour who was prophesied by
prophet Isaiah. Matthew 1:21 (TLB) says; “And she will have a Son, and you shall name him
Jesus (meaning ‘Savior’), for he will save his people from their sins.”
Sometimes we want to know how God is going to do
what He promised or how will he perform it, even though we know that God’s ways
are not ours, however, the most important thing to know is that when God speaks forth in
your life, it takes your personal initiative to have faith in His word.
Most times what God’s speaks into our lives through His servants, dreams or any other way
is always beyond our understanding and imagination and many times it brings
riot in our minds when we try to figure out how it will come to pass. Mary too
was confused and she asked the angel in Luke 1:34 (TLB) - “But how can I have a baby? I am a virgin.”
Mary put aside her
doubts and confusion, and believed God’s word. She affirmed in Luke 1:38 (AMP) “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it be done to me
according to your word.”
It
is not for you to ask how God is going to do it because the how is in His
authority. At that moment of receiving those words, Mary wasn’t
even yet married; however, by the power of the Holy Spirit, she conceived.
Are you waiting upon the Lord? Is there something He has spoken in
your life? He will accomplish it, He is not human to fib or change His mind.
When
the armies of the Moabites and Ammonites declared war on Jehoshaphat, he ran
to God and the
He sent him a prophet who told him these words in 2 Chronicles 20:15-17 (TLB ) says;
“Listen to me,
all you people of Judah and Jerusalem, and you, O king Jehoshaphat!” he
exclaimed. “The Lord says, ‘Don’t be afraid! Don’t be paralyzed by this mighty army! For the battle is not yours, but God’s! 16 Tomorrow,
go down and attack them! You will find them coming up the slopes of Ziz at the
end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 But you will
not need to fight! Take your places; stand quietly and see the incredible
rescue operation God will perform for you, O people of Judah and
Jerusalem! Don’t be afraid or discouraged! Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord
is with you!’”
It is your obligation to believe what
God has spoken through His servants. Had Jehoshaphat not played
his part by believing the words of God’s servant and acted otherwise, they
would have been slayed. When God speaks and you believe, He endorses His word.
You do not encounter an armed enemy by singing (vs 21-22); when you put common sense
into it, it’s really a suicide mission but faith makes a fool of what makes
sense. Play your part by believing God and His word and you will succeed.
For
faith is yours, action is of the Lord!
