WHAT TO DO WHEN PROBLEMS STRIKE
Pr. James Victor Lubwama

DAY 2 - REFER TO THE PREVIOUS VICTORIES

2 Chronicles 20:7 (NLT)
“O our God, did you not drive out those who lived in this land when your people Israel arrived? And did you not give this land forever to the descendants of your friend Abraham?”

When faced with problems, we should always remember the previous victories or testimonies and miracles that were made possible by God because, they give us hope and boast our faith in the Lord knowing that He who did it before will do it again. Are you not the God who gave me a job when I had been jobless for 3 years? Are you not God who healed me when I was sick? Are you not God who built me a house? Always refer to your previous testimonies or victories that God gave you.

Jehoshaphat called upon the mighty God of Israel who drove out inhabitants of Canaan and planted foreigners – a person who remembers what God did yesterday is the only person who can see what God will do today and tomorrow. Be encouraged by what God did before because it will give you hope and ignite your faith knowing that He who did it before will also do it again, and will enable you to overcome what you are facing.

The same God who redeemed you from the past problems in your life will save you from the current problems if you believe; so when faced with new challenges, when attacked by the devil, always refer to the previous victories – the previous testimonies form a firm foundation for our current victories. Isn't He the God who helped me kill the bear and lion? David declared as he prepared to attack Goliath. What he did before, He will do it again.

2 Chronicles 20:8-9 (NLT) says;
Your people settled here and built this Temple to honor your name. They said, ‘Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us.’
The presence of God is in His temple. When you get problems, always run to the house of the Lord – church because the presence of the Lord dwells there always. When disturbed, disrupted and distorted by life situations, always go into the temple of the Lord where his presence dwells.

2 Chronicles 20:11 (NLT)
For they have come to throw us out of your land, which you gave us as an inheritance.”
When the devil comes against what God gave you, turn to God for intervention; go and present your case to God. Tell him of that which is messing up what He gave you; and if you do so, He will not allow your foot to be moved or anyone to chase you out of your inheritance.

2 Chronicles 20:12 (NLT)
O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”

When problems strike, don’t think that your knowledge and witty tactics will help you out because your ways are limited; all you’ve got to do is to seek God’s unlimited and all powerful intervention. Acknowledge your limitations and helplessness, and put aside all those ideas running through your mind and ask God for His guidance and intervention. We do not overcome because of the many high profile friends we have or large families we come from but because of our dependence and confidence in God. The bible says in Psalm 33:16 (NIV) that;
“No king is saved by the multitude of an army; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength.”

Why are we so stressed? Because we try to solve what only God can resolve. We try to control the uncontrollable, do the undoable, fix the unfixable, bear the unbearable; and then we end disappointed and defeated. Jehoshaphat knew that even his army could not save him but only God.

Surrender all to God and He will come to your rescue.
