FIGHTING A GOOD FIGHT
Pr. James Victor Lubwama
DAY 3 – MAKE USE OF THE WORD
Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
When you pray, God hears and answers and, with his response, you conceive that which you shall birth in the right time. For everything you desire, you must first pray and ask because when you do so, God responds; however as you pray, approach the throne of God with his word because any prayer without the word of God is empty - for God honours and fulfills his word. What does God's word say about your life, children, work, marriage and career?

When you pray, wait for the response; and give God no rest until he establishes you or perfects that which concerns you (Isaiah 62:7). In 1 Kings 18:41-44 (GNT), Elijah prayed seven times until he received a sign as seen in scripture below;
Then Elijah said to King Ahab, “Now, go and eat. I hear the roar of rain approaching.” 42 While Ahab went to eat, Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel, where he bowed down to the ground, with his head between his knees. 43 He said to his servant, “Go and look toward the sea.” The servant went and returned, saying, “I didn't see a thing.” Seven times in all Elijah told him to go and look.  44 The seventh time he returned and said, “I saw a little cloud no bigger than a man's hand, coming up from the sea.”
Do you have a Rhema word and no answers yet? Keep confessing the word. Do not allow the devil to steal it. In the beginning there was nothing, but there was the word; inside the word, there was a hidden world and hidden possibilities. It is important to have faith in the word of God because when you lose faith in it, you lose your breakthrough. The Rhema word is that which comes from the mouth of the Lord, so if you hear the word, believe and confess it and in the fullness of time you will realise it.

Most of us have received prophesies; God has spoken forth in our lives through his servants but because of the surrounding bleak situations, we tend to loose heart or compromise instead of fighting using those prophesies upon our lives. Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:18 (NLT) that; "Timothy , my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord's battles."
How do you fight a good fight? By keeping the word of God in your heart! David said in Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) that; Your word I have hidden in my heart…...” An egg will not hatch until it has been put in an incubator. Your heart is your incubator. Keep the word of God in your heart not head; watch over it in your heart where the devil won’t steal it; and when you do this, every time you pray the Holy Spirit will reveal unto you that word in your heart. Sometimes it may take long for you to realize God’s word but do not be discouraged; when a seed is planted in the ground and it is covered with soil, it remains unchanged, however, after being exposed to moisture and air it germinates, flowers and produces fruit. In the same way, water that Rhema word with faith confessions and at the right time, it will bear fruit. The bible says in Job 22:28 (NKJV) that; “You will declare a thing and it shall be established for you……” As you fight, get hold of God's word, believe and confess it and you will surely see victory.
How will you keep the faith (for faith is God’s word activated) if you don’t have the word of God in your heart? You won’t minus the word of God; for the bible is very clear in Romans 10:17 (NKJV) that; “so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Fight a good fight using God’s word as your weapon; always attack the enemy using God’s word not your words. Psalm 138:2 (NKJV) says; “For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”
The word of God is the sword you need to destroy the tactics of the enemy; it is the hammer you use to crush the walls before you; it is fire that burns the troublesome situations. To fight a good fight and be victorious, you need to do so with the word of God.
