THREE (3) WEAPONS THE DEVIL USES
Pr. James Victor Lubwama
The devil fights us in three ways, that is through; facts of life,
words and thoughts that roam through our minds.
1. Facts
While in the quiet of the
day, the devil whispers to you. Who knows you? Where will you find a job in
this poorly performing economy? At this
age do you still expect to get married? He uses facts of life to fight
you, and the more you meditate on them, the more they become real, which eventually breeds worry.
His aim is to use facts of life and about you to discourage you and kill your
hope in the future and faith in God, but be informed that God has a good plan
for you; “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future” – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV).
What you have got to do
is to defeat the facts of life using the truth - word of God. You are what God
says you about you (Gal 3:9, Deut 28:13, Eph 1:7, Rom 8:1) The opinions of others and
facts of life won’t set you free, only God’s word will do so. The bible affirms
in John 8:32 (GNT) that;
“You
will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
2. Words
The devil uses our own
confessions to fight us, and sometimes he uses other peoples' words to plant chaos and confusion (John 8:44, 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Cor 2:11). Proverbs 18:21 says; “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. So, when we confess
negatively or speak pessimistically, we create that which we confess. The bible
says in James 3:5 (MSG) that;
"A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it
can accomplish nearly anything – or destroy it!”
Words have creating
power. God created this word by speaking forth (Genesis 1). Your family, health and job will be what you speak about
them. Therefore, we should always confess positively. Fight the words of the
world and the enemy with the word of God. Believe God's report not the report
of the world. Always confess positively
3. Thoughts
Thoughts are real and also very powerful. Every thought
has an origin, spiritual root and an objective, so always discern the intent of
the thoughts. In the self-help book: As a
man Thinketh, James Allen says that; ‘a man is literally what he
thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts’
The devil attacks us and gets us to sin by deceitfully
planting thoughts into our heads because he knows that thoughts are very
powerful. There is a constant war going on inside of us - evil vs. righteous. You
have to stop thinking carnally and start thinking spiritually because we are
being attacked by evil forces. Paul tells us in 2
Corinthians 10:5 (GW) that;
“…We take every thought captive so that it is
obedient to Christ.”
We must not entertain any evil thought, but we
must take it captive, bundle it up and take it to Jesus. When we gather our
thoughts and take them to the Christ, He will make them obedient. What thoughts should
you take to our Lord? Every thought.
If you abide in the Lord and; know the truth (His word),
confess positively and take your thoughts to Christ, you will be in position to
guard against the devil’s weapons
