THE ANOINTING (II)
Pr. James Victor Lubwama
John 1:41 (AMPC)
"We have found (discovered) the Messiah!—which translated is the Christ (the Anointed One)."

The anointing is the bringing to bear of God's presence and power upon earthly life in its numerous expressions and applications. In our Christian setting, we are often puzzled about the concept of the "Anointing". We usually associate it with places and ministers, but the anointing is not limited to places or ministers. God anoints His servants for specific purposes, and we can tap into that covenanted anointing. If you desire the anointing, you need to seek the bearer of the anointing - the Messiah; for it is He who anoints. The bible says in John 1:40-41 (AMPC) that;
"One of the two who heard what John said and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first sought out and found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found (discovered) the Messiah!—which translated is the Christ (the Anointed One)."
There are Christians that sit in church day in and day out but they never get touched by the anointing due to the lack of a personal relationship with the Anointed One - Christ and the ones He has sent - servants of God. Mathew 10:40-41 (GNT) says;
”Whoever welcomes you welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. 41 Whoever welcomes God’s messenger because he is God’s messenger, will share in his reward”
Love is the conduit that transfers the anointing. Association brings assimilation, and assimilation leads to impartation. So to partake of the works of the Anointed One, you have got to believe and associate with the ones He sends - servants of God. The Bible says in John 6:28-29 (ESV):
'Then they said to Him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God that you believe in him whom he has sent.”
Benefits of the Anointing;
i) The Anointing Teaches
1 John 2:27 (NKJV)
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him”
Knowing is the result of the anointing. It’s like the anointing of the salve in Revelation 3:18, where Jesus anoints their eyes and they see spiritual reality. One of the defining marks of a true Christian is that Christ - the Anointed One, has touched us with His anointing and caused us to know all things and reveal mysteries of the Kingdom. 1 John 2:20 (NKJV) says;
“You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.”
The anointing gives a clear and true sense of Christ and who he is that one cannot be drawn away and swayed by the deceivers.

ii) The Anointing Transforms
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit”
The anointing is evidenced wherever the Holy Spirit manifests Himself to and through men, and as such there are blessings and life transformations. This has been evident as we have seen the anointing in my ministry transform people from the inside-out - spiritually, physically, emotionally and economically.
When Saul was anointed, we saw transformation and blessings followed him from the moment. After being anointed, Samuel prophesied (1 Sam 10:1-8). Saul later met several people along the way that confirmed his new role as king and also God changed his heart (1 Sam 10:9-16) - It was a sign of his new spiritual connection with God that transformed his life. When you commit your life to Christ, He will give you a new heart and a great future as well. And that is why our hearts must be fully surrendered to Christ - if you give your heart to Christ, He will change you as well (2 Cor 5:17).

iii) The Anointing Breaks the Yoke
Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV)
“It shall come to pass in that day
That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,
And his yoke from your neck,
And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil”
We hear so much today of, the anointing breaks the yoke. This has become one of the most proclaimed mantras by Pentecostals. The anointing is able to break all the bondage and captivities, heal diseases and everything that hinders the life of a Christian.
Leviticus 26:13 (AMP) says; “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves; and I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright”
He took them out from bondage and set them free so they could serve him - the yoke refers to the slavery in Egypt that God freed the Jews from. In most instances the yoke is used as a figurative description of severe oppression and suffering.
You need the anointing to break all the yokes in your life. You can make all the resolutions you want; make all the vows to God; set all kinds of targets, but, nothing in life will bring you victory and freedom you need but the power of the anointing from the Lord. Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV) reminds us;
".....Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts."
Is your body sick? Are your thoughts frantic? Is your soul thirsty? Is your heart broken? Is your mind troubled by the shouts of fear, worry, lack, delay and any other yoke that Satan has laid upon you so that he can trample over you? James 5:14 (AMP) has your answer;
“Is anyone among you sick? He must call for the elders (spiritual leaders) of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord”

iv) The Anointing Directs and Guides
 1 Samuel 9:15-17 (NLT)
“Now the Lord had told Samuel the previous day, 16 “About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. Anoint him to be the leader of my people, Israel. He will rescue them from the Philistines, for I have looked down on my people in mercy and have heard their cry.” 17 When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said, “That’s the man I told you about! He will rule my people.”
